Project details
Project Overview
Originally built in the 1920s, this Urban Tudor Style home was ready for a renovation. In order to satisfy the lifestyle of the owner, additional space was required. One of the goals of the project was the new addition be designed to appear as if it was part of the house from the beginning.
Two of the spatial requirements were added as a single design element. The architect achieved this by designing a two-story addition to the home, with a new entryway and master bath above it. This required some reworking of the interior space to accommodate the additions. The resulting roofline allowed for the roof to be extended out to create the perfect covered outside seating area.
The home also needed a new, modern kitchen. It was designed to overlook the back yard of the property. The resulting kitchen is elegant, with white enameled cabinetry and casework, marble countertops, ceramic backsplash, hardwood floor, and a large center island with seating. The kitchen not only is elegant but is updated with modern appliances that could serve a professional chef.
A cozy built-in dining nook was added adjacent to the kitchen, the perfect place for the owner’s morning coffee.
