Edina Whole-House Remodel

Built in the 1950s, this walkout rambler was the owner’s childhood home. A complete remodel, using the home’s existing footprint was required. The redesign uses a blend of natural materials that integrates the interior and exterior of the home in a modern style, an open floor plan and easy connections to the outdoors.

The exterior features a covered, open-air breezeway – joining a 2-car garage to the home and a new side deck, visually connecting the front of the home to the backyard woods and garden space. A new lower patio accompanies the garden.

The interior features an open floor plan, large windows, and a prominent cupola to brighten the home and further connect it to its beautiful natural surroundings. In addition to all new appliances, the architectural and design style uses horizontal lines to connect the main floor spaces. Handsome wood and stone materials (granite, slate) are used for the floors, counters, built-ins and even the ceiling, providing the owners with a modern, functional, and cozy space.
